The Evolution of Web
Since the first internet browser was launched in 1991, there has been a rapid expansion in the number of browsers and the variety of features available. We wanted to take stock and make sense of all this innovation, the only way we know how: visualisation! Our friends at Hyperakt and Google Chrome felt the same way, so we worked together to create Evolution of the Web. After the warm reception of the first version, released in 2011, we made a new version using the latest visualisation technologies, including 3D effects, Canvas, CSS3 Transforms, SVG and D3.js. The result is a sumptuous, detailed and responsive visualisation that we're very proud of; we were honoured when The FWA gave it Site of the Day back in August 2012.
The World Wide Web is a system of interlinked hypertext documents accessed via the Internet [21]. With a web browser, one can view web pages that may contain text, images, videos, and other multimedia and navigate between them via hyperlinks. On March 12, 1989, Tim Berners- Lee, a British computer scientist and former CERN employee, wrote a proposal for what would eventually become the World Wide Web [1].

The term “social commerce” is first introduced in 2005 on Yahoo! (Rubel 2005). Launched on November 11, 2005, Yahoo!’s Shoposphere is the earliest attempt to plunge into social commerce (Rothberg 2005). Its “Pick Lists” feature allows users to comment on and review products lists. The user-generated content makes Shoposphere like a “blogosphere” (Rothberg 2005).
2.0
In 2009, social commerce expands to include new technical platforms and business practices (e.g., Twitter, mobile phones, combining online with offline shopping activities, etc.). More attention is also given to trying to better understanding consumers
3.0
In 2011, social commerce continues to develop and evolve. On the people dimension, shoppers are mapped by their interests in addition to their social networks. The rationale is that people have some interests that may not be influenced by their peers; therefore social commerce can be further advanced to 10 map interest graphs of people (Malik 2011). We elaborate on this rationale and argue that socializing and peer recommendations may not always be influential in social commerce.
